Peter Swanwick was born on September 29, 1922 in Nottingham, England as Walter Peter Swanwick. He was an actor, known for The African Queen (1951), The Prisoner (1967) and The Avengers (1961). He was married to Nellie Walton. He died on November 14, 1968 in London, England.

Steely-eyed, balding, bespectacled British character actor, best known as 'the supervisor', perpetually announcing 'orange alerts' in eight instalments of The Prisoner (1967). Swanwick started out as a stagehand at the Nottingham Playhouse after World War II, then acted for two years in repertory with the Argosy Players in Mansfield. In 1950, he moved to London and obtained several small parts in films, often as Germans. In much of his later life was he was dogged by health problems.
